Payment Processing and PCI Compliance

All payment transactions are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We maintain PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance by:

  • Never storing credit card numbers: Card data goes directly from your browser to Stripe's secure servers
  • Using Stripe Checkout: A PCI-compliant hosted payment form that handles all sensitive card data
  • Tokenization: We only store Stripe Payment Intent IDs, not card details
  • Secure webhooks: Payment confirmations are verified using cryptographic signatures to prevent tampering

What Payment Information We Store

In our secure database, we store only non-sensitive payment-related information:

  • Payment Intent IDs (Stripe reference numbers like "pi_xxx")
  • Transaction amounts and processing fees (in cents)
  • Wallet balance and ledger entries
  • Payment timestamps and transaction status
  • Metadata for linking payments to deposits and refunds

What We Don't Store

  • Credit card numbers or CVV codes
  • Bank account numbers
  • Full cardholder names (unless you provide them separately in your profile)
  • Billing addresses (handled entirely by Stripe)
